Dr. Roberson graduated from Baylor University, National Merit Scholar and Honors Program. Medical degree at the University of Texas, Southwestern. Resident in Radiology at Baylor Hospital; Dallas, Texas followed by a fellowship in neuroradiology at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology and subsequently Director of Neuroradiology. He was instructor of Radiology, Assistant Professor of Radiology and Associate Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School and was Chief of Neuroradiology at Massachusetts General. Dr. Roberson was Chair of Radiology, Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY, Medical Director of Computerized Medical Imaging in Sherman Oaks California and Chair of Radiology at Texas Tech University at Lubbock, Texas. Chief of Neuroradiology, UAB 15 years. He has authored or co-authored 105 peer-reviewed articles and 13 book chapters. He completed a master degree in Medical Management at the University of Texas in Dallas in 2000. He served as an oral examiner for the American Board of Radiology.

Dr. Krupinski is a Professor at Emory University in the Department of Radiology & Imaging Sciences where she is Vice-Chair for Research. She received her BA from Cornell, MA from Montclair State and PhD from Temple, all in Experimental Psychology. Her interests are in medical image perception, observer performance, medical decision making, and human factors. She is Associate Director of Evaluation for the Arizona Telemedicine Program and Director of the Southwest Telehealth Resource Center (SWTRC). She has published extensively in these areas, and has presented at conferences nationally and internationally. She is Past Chair of the SPIE Medical Imaging Conference, Past President of the American Telemedicine Association, President of the Medical Image Perception Society, and Past Chair of the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine. She serves on editorial boards for both radiology and telemedicine journals and is the Co-Editor of the Journal of Telemedicine & Telecare.

Her interests are in medical image perception, observer performance, medical decision making, and human factors.

Giovanni Morana graduated at Medical School in 1986; in 1992 he completed the Radiological Residency at the University of Verona. From october 1988 to september 2004 he has been a Clinical Staff Member in the Department of Radiology of the University of Verona. From September 2004 he is Chief of the Radiological Department of the Treviso General Hospital. He was habilitated for full Professorship in Radiology in 2014. He has published 60 papers, 25 chapters of book, 82 abstracts and 36 posters. His posters have been prized in several international meetings. He has been given more than 250 lectures either in national and international meetings.

He has been organized several meetings mainly focused on body MR and Gastro-intestinal imaging.

Professor Sanjay Gandhi is a senior attending radiologist at one of the largest teaching hospitals and regional trauma units in the UK. For the past 17 years, he has been teaching the University of Bristol and University of West of England trainees. As Honorary Professor he also teaches at Sri Devaraj Urs University, India. He has won multiple academic awards and has been involved in numerous research projects and collaborative trials. Professor Gandhi has published widely on use cutting-edge technology and co-authored and edited eight medical textbooks. Dr. Veith graduated from Cornell and completed his residency at the Brigham and Harvard. In the 1970s and 1980s, he performed pioneering work in lung transplantation while his clinical interest involved Vascular Surgery focusing on limb revascularizations and an aggressive approach to saving threatened limbs when most patients with this problem underwent amputation. In the late 1980s, Dr. Veith became involved with endovascular treatments. His group performed the first US EVAR and the first EVAR for a ruptured AAA. Dr.Veith has been a leading advocate for the recognition of Vascular Surgery as a separate, distinct specialty. He is now Professor of Surgery at NYU and the Cleveland Clinic and leads the largest Vascular meeting held annually in New York City.

Norio Tagawa received the M.E. degree from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1989 and the D.E. degree from Tokyo Metropolitan University in 1995. He joined Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. in 1989, and now a Professor in the Graduate School of System Design, Tokyo Metropolitan University.

Faiq Shaikh received the M.B.,B.S. degree (2006) from Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences, Pakistan. He was a postdoctoral research fellow in Cancer Imaging at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (2007-2009). His post-graduate clinical training includes Surgery Internship at Montefiore Medical Center (2009-2010), nuclear medicine residency at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (2010-2013), Positron Emission Tomography Fellowship at University of Iowa (2014-2015) and an Imaging Informatics fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (2015-). He has a book chapter and 17 publications in the fields of Nuclear therapeutics, Cancer Imaging, Genetic/Molecular Imaging and Imaging Informatics. He is an editor and reviewer of multiple scientific journal and is the CEO of a biotechnology startup focusing on educational informatics.

Bin Zheng received his PhD from University of Delaware in 1993. After working in Department of Radiology, University of Pittsburgh for 20 years, he joined faculty in University of Oklahoma in 2013 as a Professor at School of Electrical and Computer Engieering and Oklahoma TSET cancer research scholar at Stephensn Cancer Center. Since 1998, he has served as PI in five R01 and one R21 grant awards from NCI, NIH, one DOD breast cancer project, and subcontract PI of two other NIH R01 grant awards. Professor Cho is an early pioneer of CT and PET, developing world’s first circular ring PET (at UCLA, 1975) and BGO (PET-detector, 1976) and more recently 7.0T MRI+PET Fusion Brain Imaging System at NRI, in Korea. Currently Professor Cho is serving as a Distinguished Research Fellow at Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, and also as a member of National Academy of Medicine, Washington D.C. USA. He has 334 publications & 5695 citations.

Professor Kattesh V. Dr. Zweit is a professor of Radiology, and affiliate professor of Radiation Oncology, Pathology, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Chemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). He is also the Director of the Center for Molecular Imaging at VCU School of Medicine. He leads an inter-disciplinary and inter-collaborative molecular imaging research program that emphasizes multi-modality approaches to study biochemical and biological pathways in vivo. Professor Zweit’s research interests include the development of paradigms for molecular imaging and nanotechnology strategies for preclinical and clinical translational research in cancer biology and therapeutics. He is internationally recognized for his work in molecular imaging of cancer drug development, and conducted the “world’s first” Molecular PET Imaging clinical trial of Anti-angiogenic therapy in cancer patients (Journal National Cancer Institute 2002). Professor Zweit serves as an advisor on a number of committees, including the Cancer Research UK Pharmacodynamic and Pharmacokinetic Technologies Advisory Committee (Journal National Cancer Institute, 2006). He serves on the review body of a number of funding organizations, both in Europe and North America. He has supervised a total of 24 MSc, MD and PhD theses. Professor Zweit obtained his PhD and DSc from the University of Manchester Medical School. Prior to that, He studied for an MSc degree in PET Pharmacology. He received his Nuclear Medicine training at the John F. Kennedy Medical Centre in New Jersey, and attended advanced Nuclear Medicine training at the Brooklyn Hospital in New York. As an Undergraduate, he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree, in Radiation Biophysics, with a Biochemistry double major, from the University of Kansas.

His academic accomplishments in the area of quantitative PET imaging have been well recognized by the Medical School of Geneva University, which elected him to become faculty member as Privat-Docent. Dr. Zaidi is actively involved in developing imaging solutions for cutting-edge biomedical research and clinical diagnosis in addition to lecturing graduate and postgraduate courses on medical physics and medical imaging. His research centre on modelling nuclear medical imaging systems using the Monte Carlo method, dosimetry, image correction, reconstruction and quantification techniques in emission tomography as well as statistical image analysis in functional brain imaging, and more recently on novel design of dedicated high-resolution PET scanners in collaboration within the Computed Imaging for Medical Applications (CIMA) collaboration hosted by CERN.

Professor Cho received Ph.D, in physics, from Univ. of Uppsala, Sweden in Physics. Since then he has been faculty of UCLA, Columbia University, and University of California, Irvine. Last ten years, he served as a Director of the Neuroscience Research Institute, Gachon University and established one of the leading PET-MRI brain imaging centers in the world. Professor Cho is an early pioneer of CT and PET, developing world’s first circular ring PET (at UCLA, 1975) and BGO (PET-detector, 1976) and more recently 7.0T MRI+PET Fusion Brain Imaging System at NRI, in Korea. Currently Professor Cho is serving as a Distinguished Research Fellow at Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, and also as a member of National Academy of Medicine, Washington D.C. USA. He has 334 publications & 5695 citations.

Dr. Zweit is a professor of Radiology, and affiliate professor of Radiation Oncology, Pathology, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Chemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). He is also the Director of the Center for Molecular Imaging at VCU School of Medicine. He leads an inter-disciplinary and inter-collaborative molecular imaging research program that emphasizes multi-modality approaches to study biochemical and biological pathways in vivo. Professor Zweit’s research interests include the development of paradigms for molecular imaging and nanotechnology strategies for preclinical and clinical translational research in cancer biology and therapeutics. He is internationally recognized for his work in molecular imaging of cancer drug development, and conducted the “world’s first” Molecular PET Imaging clinical trial of Anti-angiogenic therapy in cancer patients (Journal National Cancer Institute 2002). Professor Zweit serves as an advisor on a number of committees, including the Cancer Research UK Pharmacodynamic and Pharmacokinetic Technologies Advisory Committee (Journal National Cancer Institute, 2006). He serves on the review body of a number of funding organizations, both in Europe and North America. He has supervised a total of 24 MSc, MD and PhD theses. He has published more than 100 peer reviewed articles, over 250 conference abstracts, and 6 review articles and book chapters. Professor Zweit obtained his PhD and DSc from the University of Manchester Medical School. Prior to that, He studied for an MSc degree in PET Pharmacology. He received his Nuclear Medicine training at the John F. Kennedy Medical Centre in New Jersey, and attended advanced Nuclear Medicine training at the Brooklyn Hospital in New York. As an Undergraduate, he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree, in Radiation Biophysics, with a Biochemistry double major, from the University of Kansas.

Dr. Veith graduated from Cornell and completed his residency at the Brigham and Harvard. In the 1970s and 1980s, he performed pioneering work in lung transplantation while his clinical interest involved Vascular Surgery focusing on limb revascularizations and an aggressive approach to saving threatened limbs when most patients with this problem underwent amputation. In the late 1980s, Dr. Veith became involved with endovascular treatments. His group performed the first US EVAR and the first EVAR for a ruptured AAA. Dr.Veith has been a leading advocate for the recognition of Vascular Surgery as a separate, distinct specialty. He is now Professor of Surgery at NYU and the Cleveland Clinic and leads the largest Vascular meeting held annually in New York City.

Dr. Krupinski is a Professor at Emory University in the Department of Radiology & Imaging Sciences where she is Vice-Chair for Research. She received her BA from Cornell, MA from Montclair State and PhD from Temple, all in Experimental Psychology. Her interests are in medical image perception, observer performance, medical decision making, and human factors. She is Associate Director of Evaluation for the Arizona Telemedicine Program and Director of the Southwest Telehealth Resource Center (SWTRC). She has published extensively in these areas, and has presented at conferences nationally and internationally. She is Past Chair of the SPIE Medical Imaging Conference, Past President of the American Telemedicine Association, President of the Medical Image Perception Society, and Past Chair of the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine. Professor Simon Berkovich played a leading role in a number of research and development projects on the design of advanced hardware and software systems. Those projects include construction of superconductive associative memory, development of large information systems, investigation of computer communications configurations, and enhancement of information retrieval procedures. Berkovich has several hundred professional publications in various areas of physics, electronics, computer science, and biological cybernetics. He is an author of six books and holds 30 patents. He got an award for best invention of 1983 from Bendix Advanced Technology Center and won the 2014 GW Technology Transfer Innovation Competition. Among his inventions is a method for dynamic file construction imitating the developmental tree of multicellular organisms that later become known as B-tree and extendible hashing. In 2002, he was elected a member of the European Academy of Sciences "for an outstanding contribution to computer science and the development of fundamental computational algorithms". Professor Berkovich received an M.S. in Applied Physics from Moscow Physical-Technical Institute and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Institute of Precision Mechanics and Computer Technology of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

George Kontaxakis is Associate Professor at the Technical University of Madrid (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, UPM) and is currently Vice-Chair of the Department of Electronic Engineering at UPM. She is Full Professor of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC); since 2012 she is Adjunct Professor at the Dept. of Physics&Technology, at the Arctic University (Norway) and since 2013 she is a Distinguished Visiting professor at the Dept. of Microwaves and Photonics, School of Electrical and Computer Sciences, University of Campinas (Brazil). Prof. Lechuga is associate editor of the IEEE Photonics Journal, associate editor of the J. Xun Chen received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2009 and his Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada, in 2014, where he was a research scientist in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Currently, he is with the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Hefei University of Technology (HFUT), China, as a full professor. He is Director of Biomedical Signal and Image Processing Lab in HFUT. He is an IEEE member and a senior member of The Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering (CSBME). He had held industrial research positions for twelve years with Panasonic in Japan and 3M in USA before joining UBC. He also held a visiting scientist position at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, for two years. Prof. Takahata has published over 100 papers and holds nine issued patents. He has served on a number of committees of international conferences, including, the IEEE MEMS, the IEEE Transducers, and the IEEE Sensors where he has been Track (Co-)Chair. Arkady Major received his BSc in engineering physics from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University in 1997 and MSc in laser physics and nonlinear optics from Vilnius University in 1999, both in Lithuania. In 2002 he got the PhD in laser physics from the University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom. After this Dr. Major was as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto (2002 – 2007) where he worked on various nonlinear optical spectroscopy and laser microscopy projects. Dr. Major joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Manitoba in 2007 where he is now an Associate Professor.

Dr. Major’s current research interests are in laser photonics and biophotonics. In particular, his efforts are focused on development of advanced laser sources and optical laser technologies for multiphoton imaging and spectroscopy of biological and other systems.

Mª Coronada Fernández-Calderón is Research Investigator at Biomedical Research Networking Center in Bioengineering, Biomaterials and Nanomedicine (CIBER-BBN) and Associate Professor of the Biomedical Sciences Departament at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Extremadura. She has participated in large local and international projects funded through public and private entities. She is author or co-author of several scientific papers and national and international conference communications in the field of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, Microbial Biofilms, Biomaterials, Medical Devices. Concerning her teaching activity, she has participated in the edition of books of microbiology and infectious diseases and teaching innovation projects.

Her research activity is mainly focused on biofilm-based healthcare-associated infections and the strategies to detect and prevent the development of microbial biofilms in biomaterials for medical devices. Dr. Amir Sanati-Nezhad is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering with joint affiliation with the Biomedical Engineering Program and the Center of bioEngineering for Research and Education, at the Schulich School of Engineering, a member of HotchKiss Brain Institute, Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta, and Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute at the University of Calgary.

His laboratory is currently focused on the development of integrated bioinspired microdevices using microfluidics and tissue engineering approaches for disease modeling, biological systems modeling, and drug discovery. Another research interest of his group is to develop point-of-care devices for testing infectious diseases, and portable tools for detection of plant and food pathogens.

Dr. Qiang Cai is one of the major therapeutic endoscopists at Emory University hospital, Director of Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship, and Professor of Medicine at the Division of Digestive Diseases at the School of Medicine. As a physician, he performs a variety of endoscopic procedures, some of which are not widely available. In addition to his procedures, he also runs several clinical trials and has several funded clinical research projects, mainly concerning pancreatobiliary diseases and therapeutic endoscopy. For his work in teaching medical students, residents and fellows, he has received the best teacher award three times. Additionally, Dr. Cai is a member of many committees of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and serves on the editorial boards of various medical publications, including American Journal of Gastroenterology, Chinese Medical Journal, and etc. Dr. Cai is a graduate of Jiangxi Medical College in China. After graduating from the medical college in 1982, he attended Peking Union Medical College Hospital, one of the best hospitals in China, where he began his career in Gastroenterology under the tutorship of Drs. Xiao-Qian Zhang, Min-Zhang Chen, Shou-Po Chen and Yuan-Fang Chen. There, he obtained his master degree in gastrointestinal physiology and served as a gastroenterologist and faculty member before moving to the United States in 1987. In 1992, Dr. Cai obtained his Ph.D in gastrointestinal physiology from Cornell University, where he studied intestinal calcium absorption under the guidance of Dr, Robert H. Wasserman, the father of intestinal calcium binding protein. He completed his internal medicine residency training at Marshfield Clinic, one of the training facilities of the University of Wisconsin, and his gastroenterology fellowship at the Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Cai joined the faculty team at the Division of Digestive Diseases, Department of Medicine, Emory University School of Medicine in July 2001. Dr. Cai’s main research interests are pancreatobiliary diseases, including diseases in the pancreas, the gallbladder and the bile duct, as well as therapeutic endoscocpy. He cooperates with several industrial companies in clinical research and has several funded clinical research projects. One of his projects is to improve the techniques of ERCP, which is an endoscopic procedure to diagnose and treat diseases in the pancreas and the bile duct system, such as pancreatic cancer, bile duct stone and bile leak after surgery. Dr. Cai is the first one to use a fatty meal before the ERCP procedure, which makes the procedure much easier to perform. A manuscript of this fatty meal-ERCP study was published in Endoscopy and has drawn significant attention from the field. Dr. Cai’s other clinical research concerns bile duct microlithiasis (small stones), which can cause pancreatitis as well as abdominal pain. Those small stones can’t be identified by routine examinations such as abdominal ultrasound or computed tomogram (CT), and only can be seen under a special microscope. Many patients who have right upper quadrant abdominal pain without an identified cause are commonly thought of as having irritable bowel syndrome, non-ulcer dyspepsia or postcholecystectomy pain syndrome when microlithiasis may be the cause. Dr. Cai’s expertise in this area can help such patients. Dr. Cai can also help patients with pancreas divisum. Pancreas divisum is the most common congenital pancreatic anomaly, occurring in about 10% of the general population. Patients with pancreas divisum may be subject to recurrent acute pancreatitis. Diagnosis and treatment of pancreas divisum requires minor papilla cannulation and stenting at ERCP. These procedures propose technical difficulties and are only performed by a few experts in the nation. Dr. Cai’s experience in this area can help patients with this condition. At Emory University Hospital and Emory Clinic, Dr. Cai is a very active and an excellent therapeutic endoscopist. On average, he performs 10 or more endoscopic procedures each weekday. In addition to some routine endoscopic procedures such as EGD and colonoscopy, he is also able to perform a variety of advanced endoscopic procedures, such as diagnostic/therapeutic ERCP, EUS with FNA. Many of the procedures that Dr. Cai performs, such as endoscopic ampullectomy, endoscopic cystogatrostomy, celiac nerve block and others, per oral endoscopic myotomy for achalasia, per oral endoscopic pyloromyotomy for gastroparesis, endoscopic submucosal resection, etc. are not widely available. In addition to his research and clinical work, Dr. Cai also teaches nursing students, medical students, internal medicine residents and Gastroenterology fellows. He has been awarded as best teacher three times, once at the University of Wisconsin and twice at Emory University. He teaches senior Gastroenterology fellows about performing advanced endoscopic procedures such as endoscopic ampullectomy, endoscopic gastrocystostomy, endoscopic stent placement and others. Dr. Cai also gives a lecture on Pancreatitis to medical students at Emory University once a year. Many of the medical students and residents that Dr. Cai has mentored in clinical research have obtained Gastroenterology fellow positions at Emory and other institutions, including Mayo Medical School and Duke University Medical School. Some of them have obtained faculty positions in medical schools. Dr. Cai also serves as a member of several committees. He has been a member of Research Committee, Training Committee of American College of Gastroenterology, which is largest clinical gastroenterology society in the nation. Currently, he serves as a member of the Nutrition and Metabolic Support Committee at Emory University Hospital, the International Affairs Committee of the American College of Gastroenterology and the Research Committee of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the largest endoscopy society in the nation. Dr. Cai also serves as editor, associate editor and member of editorial boards for several journals.

Singal joined the UAB after completing AASLD sponsored advanced fellowship in Transplant Hepatology at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. His clinical and research interests include steatohepatitis (due to alcohol use as well as due to non-alcohol fatty liver disease), simultaneous liver-kidney transplantation, and porphyria cutanea tarda. His research is currently funded from UAB, ACG, and NIH. Dr. Singal has long standing relationship with AASLD and has published over 100 papers in various reputed journals with over 140 presentations at national and international meetings.
